Fotana RenovaLase®
RenovaLase®

What is RenovaLase®?
An alternative to vaginal oestrogen therapy
Laser treatment offers a longer-lasting, efficient, safe and patient-friendly alternative to vaginal oestrogen therapy. In many cases, it is the only option for patients with estrogen-dependent cancer (such as endometrial cancer, breast cancer, etc.) or with a family history of such cancers.
How does it work?
During the RenovaLase® treatment, laser pulses are delivered to the surface of the vagina and vulva. These pulses are specially engineered to produce a mild heating effect, which in turn stimulates the formation of new blood vessels, fibroblast activity and new collagen formation. All of this to improve hydration and diminish symptoms such as dryness, itching, irritation and pain during intercourse.
What is the treatment like?
RenovaLase® is designed to cause minimal discomfort and is well received by patients. A special laser handpiece, similar to a speculum, is inserted into the vagina. The vaginal region is then treated with subablative laser pulses. The treatment is non-invasive, allowing you to resume your normal daily activities immediately, without the need for analgesics or antibiotics.
The procedure lasts approximately 20 minutes. For the majority of cases, 3 sessions of RenovaLase® with a 1 month interval are recommended.

You will then be offered an initial consultation for our clinical team to discuss your concerns in more detail and decide on the most appropriate treatment plan for you.
You will also be sent an information pack, including a medical questionnaire and pre and post treatment information that will need to be completed prior to your first consultation.
PRE-TREATMENT CONSULTATION
Before your appointment our highly qualified team will have already had the opportunity of reading your medical questionnaire and reviewing any photos you may have already sent in.
This first consultation is the most valuable opportunity for you to talk through your concerns and discuss your desired goals on your journey with us. It is very important that we fully understand what you would like to achieve and we will also offer our expert opinion on how we can help.
At this appointment, if suitable, we will undertake detailed skin analysis and if your treatment plan is going to involve laser treatments, we may also undertake a patch test with the appropriate Fotona laser for your needs. YOUR TREATMENT
At your first treatment appointment you will have the opportunity to ask any further questions you may have before proceeding and will then be required to sign a consent form for the treatment. We always take photographs pre and post treatment to be kept on your personal medical records, we are required to do this medicolegally. It is also invaluable to assess the progress of your skin during your course of treatment. Your consent is also required for photographs to be taken. During the treatment session you will be advised on aftercare to optimise your results and advised about the interval needed before your next session.

We always encourage you to come back to see us following the end of your treatment course, for a courtesy review appointment.
