Fotana IncontiLase®
IncontiLase®
What is stress urinary incontinence?
Stress urinary incontinence is the unintentional passing of urine. Stress incontinence tends to occur when the bladder is under pressure, such as when you cough or laugh. This is a very common problem which affects millions of people. It is generally caused by a weakening of the pelvic floor muscles and the urethral sphincter.
There are certain factors which can increase the likelihood of stress urinary incontinence occurring, such as pregnancy, vaginal childbirth, family history of incontinence, obesity, or simply from ageing.
As this can negatively affect your life, many people will choose to seek out treatment. You can undertake pelvic floor exercises or try medication, however, this may not be a completely effective solution. Surgical procedures are also available. However, for those who do not wish to undergo a surgical procedure, laser treatment may be a suitable option.
IncontiLase is a non-invasive laser treatment that improves stress urinary incontinence. This is achieved by shrinking the urethral and anterior bladder wall region.
This procedure is completed using Fotona’s Er:YAG laser.
There are many benefits to undergoing stress urinary incontinence laser treatment, including:
- No incisions
- No removal of any body tissue
- No sutures
- Quick recovery time without the need for antibiotics or pain medication
Ideal candidates for IncontiLase
You will be a suitable candidate for this procedure if you have stress urinary incontinence which you are wishing to treat, but do not want to undertake surgery.
You will have to be at least 18 years old to be suitable for this procedure.
Before undergoing laser therapy, you will need to meet the surgeon and have a consultation. The surgeon will be able to assess whether or not you are suitable for laser therapy or whether other treatments will be more suitable.
What does IncontiLase involve?
For the majority of cases, two sessions of IncontiLase® with a one-month interval are sufficient to alleviate mild or even moderate stress urinary incontinence. No special pre-op preparations or post-op precautions are necessary. You can immediately return to your normal everyday activities. Additional advantages of IncontiLase® are that the procedure is incisionless and virtually painless. Recovery is extremely quick without need for the use of analgesics or antibiotics.
IncontiLase has emerged as a leading solution for individuals suffering from urinary incontinence, offering a non-invasive and efficient method to address the challenges associated with this condition. The treatment protocol typically involves a series of three sessions, spaced over a three-month period. This structured approach allows for gradual and sustained improvement in the condition of the vaginal tissues, enhancing their strength and elasticity.
The duration and permanence of the results from IncontiLase treatments can vary significantly among patients. Some individuals may experience immediate improvements in symptoms of urinary incontinence following their initial treatment. In contrast, others may observe these beneficial outcomes gradually over a few months after completing the treatments. This can be influenced by individual factors such as the degree of vaginal laxity, and the body’s response to the laser therapy.
Following the completion of the initial treatment series most patients report sustained improvements and do not require any additional sessions for up to a year after their last treatment. This aspect of IncontiLase is particularly appealing, as it suggests a durable solution to urinary incontinence that does not necessitate frequent interventions or ongoing treatments.
The need for maintenance treatments is generally tailored to the individual to ensure that lasting relief from the symptoms of urinary incontinence can be maintained.
Why IncontiLase?
IncontiLase offers a beacon of hope for women facing the challenges of urinary incontinence, providing an effective, non-surgical solution to this common but often distressing condition. Beyond its primary function of addressing urinary incontinence, IncontiLase presents several additional benefits that contribute to its growing popularity among those seeking relief.
One of the most significant advantages of opting for IncontiLase treatment is the potential for enhanced sensitivity during sexual intercourse. This improvement is attributed to the laser’s ability to tighten the vaginal tissues and increase blood flow, which can lead to more satisfying sexual experiences. This aspect of the treatment is particularly appealing for those who may have experienced a decrease in sexual pleasure due to the physical changes associated with childbirth, ageing, or other factors.
Furthermore, IncontiLase has been reported to contribute to a reduction in the incidence of yeast infections and urinary tract infections (UTIs). The treatment’s ability to rejuvenate the vaginal area and improve its overall health can create an environment that is less susceptible to these common infections. By strengthening the vaginal tissues and enhancing their function, IncontiLase can help to mitigate factors that contribute to the development of infections, thereby improving the overall quality of life for those treated.
The non-surgical nature of IncontiLase is another key factor in its appeal. For women seeking alternatives to traditional surgical interventions, IncontiLase offers a minimally invasive option that requires no downtime, allowing patients to return to their daily activities immediately following the procedure. This convenience, coupled with the treatment’s effectiveness and additional health benefits, makes IncontiLase a compelling choice for those looking to address urinary incontinence without undergoing surgery.
