Onychomycosis (Fungal Nail Treatment)

Onychomycosis is a fungal infection of the nails, which affects a large percentage of the population. The main cause of this infection are dermatophytes, a type of fungus that distorts the colour, the shape and thickness of the nail, coming to destroy it completely, unless measures are taken to combat them.

Until recently, treatment options were limited to topical creams and lacquers as well as oral mediation these suffer from slow results and liver toxicity. Today, advances in medical technology allow us to have a new and effective method:

Fractional CO2 laser combined with topical antifungal is a safe and effective treatment.

Fractional CO2 laser as a monotherapy can improve nail with onychomycosis due to the ablative and thermal effect of the microthermal zones induced by fractional CO2 laser. Combination therapy with suitable topical anti-fungal solutions has proven to be an effective treatment for this condition.

The CO2 laser system is the oldest of the laser therapies for onychomycosis. It is an ablative and therefore can serve as a primary t treatment for onychomycosis or as an adjunct to topical antifungals, providing a means of penetration through the nail plate to the nail bed.

Treatment is carried out as a course of five sessions at 3-weeks interval for 16 weeks.  The treatment takes around 30 minutes and it not painful

Pricing £150 per session (£750 course of 5 treatments – excluding topical solution)
